If you look in /usr/share/applications/kde you'll see many .desktop files
that control menu appearance. If you look through these you'll often see
the line NoDisplay=true - this stops that item appearing in any menu. If
you copy this .desktop file to ~/.local/share/applications and either
delete or change NoDisplay to =false then it will appear in the menu.
I think!!?? (I haven't tried it), that the reverse will apply, ie copy an
item that does appear to /.local..., change it to NoDisplay=true and it
might?? hide the item, as I think /.local over-rides other settings.
Note - this is not what the menu editor does and by putting files in /.local
they don't get overwritten whenever the programme gets updated
