Unfortunately, it's a known bug. You can choose to use fglrx and get 3D
and have problems shutting down (and possibly unable to change tty) or
use the "ati" driver and have everything work, but not good 3D.
I endend up buying a new computer becasue I couldn't handle it not
working properly. This computer has nVidia graphics, which work well.
I lost the ability to hook up two monitors, but that's not too terrible
because my desk really doesn't have the room for another monitor (unless
I do some major cleaning).
Of course, new drivers will be developed, but who knows when?
