Live CD/DVD Video woes

Hi,

Just stumbled across this distro, downloaded Kubuntu Live CD & Dapper 
DVD (Flight 4).

In both cases the boot process ends, unsuccessfully, with pink and black 
vertical stripes. I tried different resolutions on the CD (don't think 
the DVD gave me the option) but no dice.

I've tried it on an Athlon XP1400 with an AGP nVidia 6600GT an a Dell 
17in monitor capable of 1600x1200 at 75Hz.

I've tried looking around the FAQ/Docs but I'm stumped.

Any ideas.
