According to ATi:
Feb 9, 2006 - Driver 8.22.5 x86 and x86_64 platforms
"ATI Proprietary Linux Driver now supports Linux Kernel 2.6.15."
That's from their Linux driver RSS feed
(http://www.ati.com/online/rss/atilinuxdriver.rss?OTC-rssfeedlinux).
So if Kubuntu LiveCD flight 5 has moved up to the 2.6.15 kernel AND their
"restricted" drivers have a pre 8.22.5 ATi driver, you're out of luck. Maybe
try VESA mode instead? Alternatively, you could download ATi's driver and
fix it yourself (beware: ATi's driver installer is anal compared to
nVidia...be prepared for a number of hoops to jump through).
Cheers,
James
