Kate spell-check revisited.

Is it just me, or does it seem like it takes forever for spell check to
"kick in" after you select it from the menu.

It seems as if Kate freezes for a moment and then the spell check kicks in.

Compared to spell check other apps it's glacially slow.  Is there
something that I can do to fix this or is it a bug?

Oh, I'm running Dapper, btw.
