yeah, maybe is a codec problem try to download the 3.97 lame
version from http://www.mp3dev.org/ and build it from
source:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=290&package_id=309
and read this:
http://lame.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/lame/lame/USAGE
also try to use the transKode script for amaroK is very good
