Unable to upgrade amarok

I am in the process of shifting my second machine over to Kubuntu, and
have found an issue that I didn't have with my first one.
1. Kubuntu 6.06.1 is up and running fine.
2. I have updated to KDE 3.5.4; that all went fine as well.
But when I try to update to amarok 1.4.2 or 1.4.3, adept says that it
can't upgrade. It doesn't seem to give a reason; it just says: "BREAK
(upgrade)" in red letters.
How do I figure out what the problem is?
As far as I recollect, I am doing nothing any different than I did on
my first system, and amarok upgraded fine there.
FWIW, these are both 64-bit systems.
