Yes, but one of the significant changes is improved KDE support.

So I would hope the Kubuntu people would at least backport it to Dapper.

I guess the Ubuntu folks don't care that much.

OTOH, I believe 2.04 is in Edgy, so you could try adding Edgy
repositories temporarily just to install it.
