You cannot change them with guidance powermanager. You can either go with
klaptop or kpowersave if you need this.

Did you submit the bug for brightness problem? Is it maybe related to this:

This is probably the issue of kernel or ACPI implementation. You may want to
play with changing the trigger points for the fans. And you should submit a
bug as mailing list is not perfect location for bug handling.
