When you say that the stream is playing fine, is time progressing at a
normal rate in the little bar that keeps track of time at the bottom right
hand corner of amaroK?
I also originally had no sound in amaroK on my AMD64 X2 Kubuntu system, but
time moved _very_ quickly (like, it would "play" a track in a couple of
seconds). The fix was to download the right codecs (I used automatix for
this). As soon as I had the right codecs on the system, everything worked
great. I am running amaroK right now, in fact. (And to see my hideous taste
in music, look at www.last.fm/user/N7DR)
(Once I had the right codecs installed, no other twiddling or tweaking was
necessary.)
Oh, and FWIW, I am running amaroK 1.4.2. It has crashed exactly once in the
last week, which is a considerable improvement on the earlier version that
I was previously running under Mandriva 2006.
