Very ODD, Adept update icon ? NO Update, Broken ?

You might just need to download and add Riddell's key to solve this. Type
these 2 commands in Konsole:
wget http://people.ubuntu.com/~jriddell/kubuntu-packages-jriddell-key.gpg
then
sudo apt-key add kubuntu-packages-jriddell-key.gpg
