How do I tell Konq browser to yield to Firefox?

Although my desktop is KDE, I prefer to surf the internet and handle 
e-mail with Firefox and Thunderbird respectively.
If in an e-mail message I click an external link Konqueror invariably 
takes center stage and pre-empts Firefox, even when Firefox is already 
open. How do I get Konqueror to stop doing that (i.e. to accept that 
Firefox is my browser of choice)?
Any help will be appreciated.
