Kmail: Double mail check necessary?

I need to check mail twice with Kmail before the mails are downloaded.
I'm using disconnected IMAP. Does anybody else have this issue with 
Kmail?

Is it a bug, or a feature I don't understand?
(standard IMAP and POP3 work as expected)
