MP3 player is "full" but has no files on it...

Okay here it comes. I'm logged in as root (I know this is not recommended but 
it's easier than always type sudo...).

lsusb gives me this (device is unmounted)
# lsusb

mount /dev/sdc1 gives me:
# mount /dev/sdc1
mount: can't find /dev/sdc1 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

# mount -t auto /dev/sdc1 /media/MP3\ Player/
makes a clean mount operation but the "disk full" state is still there!

This is what df gives me:
# df -h /media/MP3\ Player/
Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sdc1             243M  241M  2.4M 100% /media/MP3 Player
#

So it shows that space is used to 100% ... There's not one single file in 
it !!!

Anyway, I'll follow the idea of Bruce Marshall and reformat it in Windows to 
see if this would help me too. It's always worth a try...
