Hey Jeremy,

Thank you for answering. It was kicking me back out to cmd login. When I ran
startx I was getting kstartupconfig error message popup. It seems like this
is frequently associated with permissions on the user folder. That did not
seem to be the case in this instance. I eventually installed KDE 3.5.7 with
apt, and that fixed it.

I am concerned that others will get the same problem doing a routine update
like I did. The update didn't generate any errors. I didn't figure out that
there was a problem until Konqueror gave me an error saying it couldn't find
KHTML. I rebooted and that is when it happened.
