You might try Strigi. I have not tried it and I don't know how it works but
it looks interesting and is present on my Kubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon box. Try
K (start menu) > Strigi (second app from bottom of All Apps list) or look
for it in Adept. Strigi claims to index pdf files and much more. I haven't
used it yet. Anyone have?
