Alsamixer works nicely- I smoothed the CR-CR-CR sound a bit with it. But 
the problem as such has not yet been solved like this.

My headset, a "Sennheisser" - is simple too. However, it functions well 
enough. I have the clicking CR-CR-CR sounds only when I 'open' the 
microphone in K-mix. The sound OUTPUT is perfectly OK, especially when I 
mute the microphone function of KMIX.
By the way, I use the same headset at the Windows partitions of this 
laptop as well as at another machine. In those cases, the sound INPUT 
works well also.
So, there is no HARDWARE problem in my case. So, I am still only looking 
for some correct/ workable SOFTWARE settings in Kubuntu Gutsy...

So far for this moment...
