You might not like this reply, but the best way to do it is by hand. Search 
around for a few tutorials (there are many), save them to your drive. Open 
them in Konqueror in multiple tabs or print them out.
 Then, use a text editor like Kate or get Quanta (which is just a text editor 
with some nice HTMLish extras) and start experimenting.

If you get over the hump, it all starts making sense and you can move on from 
there. If you use that Kompozer program, you will never really know what's 
going on. 

There's no substitute for learning the basics and HTML is really very simple 
indeed.
