Kubuntu 7.10 wifi lan problems - could not find how.

I had the same problems with my Intel Wireless card.  I put "ifdown eth1" 
and "ifup eth1" in my rc.local file (I think it was), or you could install 
wicd and let it control the wireless instead.

I haven't had any trouble since installing that.
