Pretty much always is!

Variously called:
console, konsole, command-line, cli, shell, and others I can't recall. It's
that black box that lets you type commands directly.

Not sure what you mean by "alt F2 didn't work either". Alt+F2 brings up a run
dialogue - it's a quick way to run stuff. You would then enter the name of
the program you want to run and hit enter. So, konsole, enter will start the
KDE console.
You can also install an app called 'Katapult' which is pretty cool too.

Not really, I don't use it. But, just play around - don't be afraid of
breaking stuff, it's not that fragile ;)

Yes, Tbird has it's own system I think.

This means you already have it installed, which is the way it *should* be
anyway. So, don't worry about it.

I am actually pretty sure that OOO also uses it's own system. The whole Aspell
thing is a bit of a surprise. But I don't use OOO much, so ignore me!

Neither can I! Weird. You might be best served by going to the OOO website and
searching the FAQs and forums there.

If you solve the problem, please let us know what you did!
