Kubuntu on X60s problem with the knetetworkmanager (netapplet)

Hello

I have successfully installed Kubuntu 6.10 on my X60s, the wireless
card is detected and I can use the KDE control manager to configure my
card.

However the knetworkmanager tells me 
 no network device

The netapplet application shows me the networks around, but when I try
to configure I obtain 
failed to execute child-process network-admin no such file or
directory (that application always worked in Debian ETCH)

Can anybody help me?
