Kubuntu on X60s problem with the knetetworkmanager (netapplet)

I did google, but did not find that one.

Ubuntu's mn and knetwormanager act similarly I suppose.  Well fine,
but what next? I manually deleted the relevant lines in
/etc/network/interfaces restarted the knetworkmanager but getting the
same result. Could please point me out some documentation
