Why pointless?  If the device interface isn't going to be found, perhaps - I
know nothing about the hardware - but if it communicates over common
devices & protocols, there's no particular reason to assume that running
the software under Wine is pointless.

However, that's not to suggest it'll be easy.  My experience is that Wine
runs a whole lot of software, reasonably well, but often takes _months_ of
fiddling to get it to work decently.
