Can't get Compiz to work

	Hi everzbody,

	I can't get Compiz to work under Kubuntu Edgy w. KDE 3.5.6. I installed all 
the packages listed on the Compiz homepage [1], an the Ubuntu Help page [2].  
When I type

	compiz --replace &

 kwin dissappears an I am left with borderless windows as expected, waiting 
for me to load the Compiz window manager. However, when I type 

	kde-window-decorator

nothing happens and I can not activate any effects whatsoever. 

	Any thoughts?
