Others have pointed out that this is caused by Linux using your memory
to cache disk content and is, consequently, a good thing(tm).

You may find it interesting to fire up a console and run the command
'free', giving output like this:

daniel at enki:~$ free
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 1035164 1020364 14800 0 10984 310948
-/+ buffers/cache: 698432 336732
Swap: 2409592 108012 2301580

As you can see my machine, with 1GB, uses the whole lot -- but 300MB or
so of that is actually available once buffers and cache are taken into
consideration.

Regards,
        Daniel
