Did you format the partition, or just delete it?  If you formatted it, I have 
no idea how to recover the data.  If you deleted it, and if you can figure 
out what its boundaries used to be, you can re-create it using sfdisk.  I did 
this several  years ago, but I no longer remember enough of the details to 
give you a set of instructions.  It was really complicated, and not at all 
for the faint of heart.  I had some uberguru taking me by the hand, and I'm 
not enough of a guru to turn around and extend the same hand back to you, I'm 
afraid.
