Initialization Scripts

OK...figured out what my startup fail was.....it is apache.  I had apache 
loaded at one time, removed it and loaded apache2.  There is an 
initialization script for apache left in the /etc/init.d/.

1.  If I remove this script will that stop the boot process from loading 
apache when it is no longer there?

Or

2.  Or should I look somewhere else to stop this non-existing service?
