AMD deciding _now_ what to do about Linux

Like they care. I've been falling for T.Makedon's PR chatter for five years 
how they feel dedicated to Linux and yadda yadda.
Don't know where you are from, but in my parts (Europe in common, Germany in 
particular) Linux' desktop share is somewhere around 4%.
ATi never cared for 4% and I don't think AMD will, even with current 
competition with intel really pressing them.
I found I don't really spent time on games (at 30, I somehow don't see much in 
that anymore ;) ) so my next choice is probably intel onboard video. 
After all it has enough juice for Google Earth (my fav toy) and they provide 
specs to the community for most of their chipsets, including ICH. 
I just got an nForce 3 board for my file server thinking nF3 was old enough to 
be well supported.
Long story short, getting IDE to work took a new custom kernel and the GBE NIC 
still doesn't say a word.
intel = one stop.
