error copying message to sent folder

I occasionally get that in Mozilla Thunderbird, but only for newsgroups.
Exactly what happens when you send a message?  Do you get an error, or
does the copy just silently not occur?

Anyway, check that you have the setting enabled.  Go to Account
Settings, select Copies and Folders under your count, and make sure
Place a copy in "Sent" ... is checked.
