Hope someone can help soon as I need my printer to do
Income Tax work.
My printer was working but now just doesn't
work(print). The only thing I've done is upgrade.
The KDE add printer utility only has network and smb
printer active eberything else is greyed out. I did
use administrative mode. When I use localhost:631 or
localhost:631/admin now it shows my printer and all
goes well until it asks for my cups username and
password which it simply doesn't recognize. I tried
everything, my user ID and passwd and my root passwd
and everything else I could think of but nothing is
accepted. Before I reinstalled cups, gimpprint and
gutenprint drivers and everything associated only pp
printer connections were shown and mine is a usb.
I'm using Dapper 6.0.6.1 up to date, cupsys v
1.2.2-0ubuntu0.6.06, cupsys-client v
1.2.2-0ubuntu0.6.06, KDE 3.55 and have
cupsys-driver-gimpprint, cupsys-driver-gutenprint,
libcups*, libgnomecups* etc all installed. When I
first tried to reinstall my printer and the usb ports
were not listed, I tried to modify the cups server and
when it asked for my user ID and passwd the passwd
issue started and hasn't stopped.
Any help, clues most appreciated as I'm at a loss on
what else to do. I did read the localhost:631/help
and searched the Ubuntu forus before posting here and
as soon as I figure out how, I'll post on the forums
also.
Thanks for any help,
