Backports Dapper

To get the backports you need to adjust your repository sources.  The 
easiest way to do this is by running

kdesu kwrite /etc/apt/sources.list

from the command line then removing any #'s that you see beside the 
backports address.  It should look something like this:

deb http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ gutsy-backports main restricted 
universe multiverse

But, it will say Dapper instead of Gutsy.  After that, save it then do 
apt-get update and then apt-get upgrade.  You will probably get a large 
amount of updates, so it could take a while to upgrade.
