Sure, but think on this:
Sometimes the power cuts... and the UPS catches the machine ... and you have 
to shut down FAST! If it started doing a fsck at that point, I would be in 
trouble! How to stop it? What would the damage be if the UPS switched off 
during the check?

A "Shut down right damn now and do nothing else on your way to cold silicon" 
option could fix that.
