I had the very same problem; less than a week ago, I lost both hard
drives and my records.  I can't remember the code, but I can tell you
the cure.  There is code that will let you know all the running
processes in Adept.  If you can find that code, all you do is 'kill'
them.  They are in sets of 4 numbers, like 6001, or 3747, but whatever
they are, you sudokill, I think if I remember correctly and the problem
is cured.  I am sorry I can't help you more, but I have helped several
people because I saved the procedure and just cut and pasted the cure
for others in the past.  When my system crashed, I lost everything
including that.  I hope it puts you in the right direction.  Good luck.
