I can. KDE4 was not starting, even after a fresh install. However the
most likely cause has been narrowed down to prior to even KDM. If the
directions to look in xsession-errors is any indication the problem is that X
isn't completing its start up. No X, no KDM, no KDE.

Funny. I was agreeing with the OPs displeasure. Furthermore this is a
public list. As people have often told me when you post it to a public list
you pretty much lose control of the direction the conversation goes.

Actually lately I have asked more questions than answered lately. On the
other hand none of them have really been answered.

Except as has been pointed out, they're not off-topic. You may not /like/
them but liking them doesn't automatically make them off-topic. If that were
the case I'd demand the power to make any message not to my liking off-topic
and wield it with an iron FIST!!!! Mu-HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!
That thar's a joke, son.

I'm telling Richard that if KDE4 sucks and that someone expresses that
opinion, IE the shoe fits, then there's nothing wrong with that.

Which is being addressed. Since you didn't recall let me refresh your
memory on what the OP said which prompted my response.

Wait, wait... They're actually going forward with KDE4 given how
horrible it is compared to 3?

So are you agreeing with Richard that Rosalind should not have said she'd
go back to Gnome? Are you saying that me expressing my displeasure at the
notion of KUbuntu going to KDE4 in the next release is irrelevant and somehow
off-topic to this, the KDE Ubuntu mailing list?
I submit that you, Richard and Myriam need to grow a thicker skin. If
none of you had jumped on my case for commiserating with Myriam this would not
have happened. Public response begets public response. If I responded to all
the things that I think are wrong-headed on these lists I'd never get to work
in the morning.
