Using IMAP for the list

placing 2 folders on the server should work, but remember, that these will
appear in your IMAP folder tree, and these emails wont be stored on your
driver unless you select them to be used offline. having your email client
copy the emails will copy those emails to your local folder and leave the
message on the server wherever it was (inbox?).
imagine IMAP as a remote control of the folders on the server. you move your
messages between different folders in your IMAP account, they get moved
between these folders on the server. move them to a local folder, and they
will quite literally be moved to your local folder, that is, removed from
the server, since your local folders are not mapped to any folder on the
server.
