Not from my reading.  I think it's safe to say that there _is_ a problem -
too many people reporting measured throughputs that are ridiculously
small - but I still see no evidence there that anybody has tracked down the
bug.  Nevertheless, it's a _bug_, not something that can, or should, be
tweaked in an individual install.

And for both of those, while you're right that they use resources, do you
have any evidence at all that they're slowing things down enough for a user
to notice?  I don't think so.

fwiw, I think trying to eliminate the writing to .xsession-errors is not a
very good idea.  You'll be sorry when you start encountering a problem with
an X app.  You _could_ modify all your .desktop files so that the command
executed routes standard output to /dev/null
