I have a friend who has a Sony CyberShot, which offers a choice of either
memory stick or Compact Flash. And ufraw converts the raw files. And this one
has a bog standard mini USB socket, much to my pleasant surprise. It's not a
tiny camera though - more the size of an SLR but it does have a 10:1 or so
optical zoom, decent size lens.
But I prefer my own choice - the Fuji S9600. Takes CF or XD cards, 10:1
optical zoom, 9 megapixels. And, amazingly, it has the three features I
really, REALLY wanted - standard AA cells for power, a standard, mechanical
cable release socket, and a standard flash sync socket, the tiny coaxial one.
I think the sensor is a bit noisy compared to expensive models, but hey, at
the price who can complain?
