lost usb/dvd on gutsy->hardy upgrade

I guess it'd be usefull if you could paste the output of "lsusb" to see if the 
flash drive hardware itself gets detected.
Also, "lsmod | grep usb". For the cdrom, my guess is "lsscsi" and "lsmod | grep 
cdrom"
That won't solve anything, but it should provide some more info about what's 
wrong.
