Yes, you can install firefox-2 from the Hardy universe repository after 
the upgrade. I think in Gutsy the package is named firefox (without "-2") 
and will result in firefox3 after the upgrade.

It is probably a question how much experience you have with Linux and how 
much time you want to offer for the move to the new version. You could 
try resizing the partitions according to your new needs with qtparted or 
gparted, before you do the upgrade. I can't tell you how good that works 
because I never tried that. If you want to finish the move to the new 
version as fast as possible, a clean install is probably easier.

In the file /etc/apt/sources.list and in files in the 
directory /etc/apt/sources.list.d you have the configuration for the 
repositories used for your system.
