Installation problem

Greetings gurus!

I am trying to install Kubuntu to a computer that already has a Windows XP
partition, and previously had a Kubuntu partition. The Kubuntu partition on
my hard drive failed, and I wanted to take the opportunity to upgrade as
part of redoing the partition.

When I try to install "Kubuntu 8.04 Remix" from the CD, it drops to the
command line and an application called "Busy Box". I thought I might have
gotten a bad download, so I tried again using straight Kubuntu 8.04. I also
tried using a CD with a fresh download of with Ubuntu, just in case. I got
the same result every time.

All installation attempts have failed using Kubuntu, though I was able to
install an older version of Mandrake with no problems.

I was able to install the 8.04 Remix inside of Windows, but don't really
want to run it that way.

I'm not so much of a Linux guy, so when faced with the "Busy Box"
application command line, I'm not too sure what to do with it, but I know it
shouldn't be part of the normal installation process.

Any ideas out there?

Thanks,

Bliss in Sunny San Angelo
