intrepid kate problem

I'm not sure whether this is something I've done or not, but for whatever
reason, in intrepid kate always starts up maximized instead of remembering
its last-used size.

In particular, if I right-click the title bar, the item "Maximize" is
always checked.

How do I tell kate to start up with its last-used size?

I've tried fiddling with the "Configure Window Behaviour", but the meanings
of a lot of those aren't obvious and the end result has been that I haven't
been able to change kate's behaviour.
