in system settings, monitor and display, what is your screen identified
as? is it identified as plug & play monitor? if yes, change it to some
generic one. if it's LCD choose generic LCD with the appropriate screen
size, or in case it's CRT choose CRT with appropriate reolution size.
maybe this will add the missing screen section to your xorg.conf.
