Kubuntu-intrepid kpdf? (obsoleted? by kubuntu or kde.org??)

I'm a multi-boot user. I have kde based installations of kubuntu
sabayon & opensuse on this pc. But my Kubuntu 8.10 intrepid is my only
kde 4.x installation. It just came to my attention that I didn't have
my favorite pdf viewer "kpdf" installed in intrepid. So of course my
next step was to attempt to apt-get install kpdf...

But it doesn't seem to be available from the standard kubuntu
intrepid repositories.

The reason I always preferred kpdf to xpdf and/or gv is kpdf has those
nice keyboard accessible menu:

"File Edit View Go Tools Settings Help"

Which let me control most of it's functions without having to wrestle
with the {many expletives deleted} rodent pointing device. Or expecting
me to remember a bunch of application specific keybindings that don't
have on screen clues.

This leaves me with two questions:

1) Is it that kde.org dropped kpdf from kde4, or is it the kubuntu
team that doesn't like kdpf???

2) Given that kpdf is NOT in the intrepid repo, can anyone suggest a
pdf viewer that is, which does use a keyboard accessible menubar?

Thanks:
