Ray,
this one is easy.
If you want to install from Linux, you will use the Linux binary.
"static" means that all or some of the relevant libs that the binary
needs, are included and statically linked.
So you can try the "normal binary" and use "static" if "normal" does not
work.
Fwiw, I am routinely using static, since this potentially saves me
fiddling around.
.exe will be your choice if you happen to be inside an DOS-environment,
when installing.
