I think I screwed up due to lack of understanding. If there is anything I
have learned about linux is that T and t are not the same.
I was downloading the PPA for KDE 4.2 so that I could upgrade. It was either
through that process or one when I was attempting to download kubuntu-
restricted-extras that somewhere in the instruction I was provided a rather
complicated Key. I also remember a time when they requested a password.
Because I see a difference in a Key and a password, I put my password in the
form. I think that was a mistake that is causing great problems right now.
When I attempt to download and install a package in Adept, I am stopped with
this:
Download failed.
The list of errors is attached. The recovery for this case is currently not
implemented. If you see 404 errors, it might be useful to try fetching package
lists (see the Sources tab) and retrying the operation.
The error was:
APT Error. Context:
Package download failed,
GPG error: http://ppa.launchpad.net intrepid Release: The following
signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available:
NO_PUBKEY 60487016493B3065,
I wasn't able to locate a file for the sun-java6-bin package. This might
mean you need to manually fix this package. (due to missing arch),
I wasn't able to locate a file for the sun-java6-jre package. This might
mean you need to manually fix this package. (due to missing arch),
The reference to the NO PUBKEY rang a bell and I remembered that I had a key
but no longer knew where it was, and didn't remember installing it because of
the terminology. Now when I backstep, I can't find a person to ask the
question.
I have had problems since not being able to accept Sun Java contracts, there
was no accept button. Also I am unable to install or remove packages until
this is resolved. This sounds like a new problem. I fear no one will know
the cure.
