Hi Steven,
from "man uptime"
...Load averages are not normalized for the number of CPUs in a
system, so a load average of 1 means a single CPU system is loaded
all the time while on a 4 CPU system it means it was idle 75% of the
time....
So:
Imho, this means that your system CPU is fully loaded ALL the time (if
your happen to be working on a one CPU system).
So you better use "top" from a shell to see what the "top consumers" of
your CPU and Mem percentages are.
Depending on the "top" results, maybe you should refrain from KDE with
this machine and use xfce instead?
Should you feel an urge to try it, iirc:
"sudo apt-get install xfce-desktop"
