Were Intrepid updates the reason I lost my sound on the Intrepid partition?

I have since made a Java install using Adept; I think it is working fine.  But 
I still don't have sound in Intrepid.  Only in the Dragon Player, though.

And I have uninstalled and reinstalled Dragon Player too, without favorable 
results.
