Thanks Clay!? Reinstalling kwin did the trick.? I am now running KDE 4.2.? It looks pretty good even if it was an unplanned upgrade.

I must not be the smartest kid on this block.? I didn't even know I did something wrong.? It seems to me that if Kubuntu is going to do well in a world of Windows(tm), it is going to have to impress people like me. Until this morning I was impressed - now I am paranoid.
