If I understand you right, you are using Gnome, so I think it's well
enough to send your post to the Ubuntu users list. Indeed,
cross-posting is not a good idea as it multiplies the mails for those
who are on different lists.

Also, Kubuntu-users is focused on the KDE variant of Ubuntu, so don't
expect too much help on Gnome issues. I think focusing your questions
to the appropriate list will bring you more.
