I was able to get the video working long enough after the original problem
occurred to know that the video card is working. I also had a working video
using the onboard video, so video is not the problem. I had it working for a
while with memory in the first two slots of the MB, but every time I put memory
in the outer 2 slots, I lost video. I even tried memory from the outer slots
in the inner slots to see if the memory is good. One of them worked just fine,
but I did not get a chance to try the other one before I lost video again.
Additionally, I had the processor working at times, long enough to know that
it is probably not the problem. I believe it is either one of the sticks of
memory or the motherboard that is defective. Every thing seems to get power,
so I don't think it is the Power Supply either. I suppose it could be the new
TB drive; that is the HDD that the OS is on. I get the original ASUS screen
when I attempt to boot up, so whatever ASUS included in their MB either
includes some kind of video, or the video card is working, at least with
default drivers. I am completely stymied but don't have the ability to get to
a shop for additional help.
Blessings little Brother,
Steven
